Obama's Request that Vets Pay Own Health Care

I received this in my gmail this morning. My comments on it follow:

Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty.
The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal.
"Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained..
"Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute..."
"I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country," Obama continued. "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."
I'm all for slamming this moron, but Snopes has researched this trying to find the direct quote. There wasn't one. It came from a satirical dialogue and Obama never actually uttered the words. I was curious about this because I didn't believe that his "handlers" would have made such a mistake with the "Massiah." I was right. They are never going to let him say what he probably actually believes. This is his attitude, to be sure, but he'll never stand in front of the American people and admit it. He's WAY too much of a coward for that. I thought Snopes reporting on this was dead-on; people are wondering whether or not he actually said this because of the fact that he brought up vets having to pay for health care AT ALL. My suggestion is that we as conservatives do not fall into the trap of trying to quote him on something he has not actually said. This is always going to backfire. You can hear the liberals now: "you guys are just lying liers who lie." Just the FACT that he has suggested this method of saving money while spending it on ridiculous things like government-run health care, Cap and TAX, and an agenda that does not address the collapse of the housing market in the U.S. should be sufficient fodder for us to argue that he is a lousy president and should be removed from office as soon as humanly possible.
